Bay Reps 4
Midland Dow 2

Andrew Zelinski and Dan Tinkle had three-point games to lead the Bay Reps to a 4-2 victory over Midland Dow.

Zelinski opened the scoring with a first-period goal, assisted by Tinkle.

After Dow tied the score, Jake Mills scored on the power play from Karl Williams and Ben Videan.

Tinkle scored two goals in the third period, the first on assists from Grayson Myas and Zelinski. Tinkle's final tally, which came on the power-play, was assisted by Zelinski and Myas.

Andrew Mills made 18 saves in net for the Reps (7-11-1), which host Saginaw Nouvel today at The Kaliseum.


Bay Area Reps 3
Grandville 3

A tight game up north that ends in a tie. Grandville gets one in the first, and then the Reps tied in the second. Both teams tally twice in the third to force an extra session.In OT, the Reps outshoot the Bulldogs 11-1, but junior goalie Ryan Wysocki comes up big to save the tie.

Grandville gets goals from its senior leaders Ian Straayer and Andy Grypma (2). The Reps got goals from Brandon Ferguson, Andrew Zelinski, and Daniel Tinkle. Bulldogs goalie Wysocki turns back 38 out of 41 shots, while the Reps Cody Lindhurst has 27 saves on 30 shots.

Midland 7
Bay Reps 4

Kevin Alcott had a goal and four assists as Midland pulled away for a 7-4 win over the Bay Reps.

Ryan Farley netted two goals and Jake Mills and Adrian Ringlever one apiece for the Reps (4-7).

Craig Miller picked up two assists while Brandon Ferguson, Andrew Zelinski, Karl Williamson, Eric Videan and Michael Elliott had one each.


Sault Ste. Marie 6
Grand Traverse Bay 2

Sault Ste. Marie scored the first three goals and the last two en route to a 6-2 triumph over Grand Traverse Bay.

Brandon Ferguson got the Reps (3-3) on the board with an assist from Ryan Farley.

Andrew Zalenski's power-play tally in the third period cut the Sault lead to 4-2. Dan Tinkle and Anthony Armour drew the assists.

The Blue Devils scored twice in the final 23 seconds, the first with the Reps goalie pulled, for the final margin of victory.

"We played well at times, particularly in the third period," GT Bay coach Rex Luxton said. "We put in a good effort. We just don't have the consistency we need."

GT Bay hosts Rockford tonight for a contest at The Kaliseum. Game time is 7 p.m.



Bay Area back to .500

KALKASKA -- It's hard to lose when the opposition can't score.
Bay Area beat Grand Rapids Christian 7-1 on Saturday night. The Reps (2-2) allowed just one goal in beating in weekend wins over the Eagles and Manistee.

The Reps put the game away with four second-period goals, two by Grayson Myas. Tom Pritz and Ian Webb assisted on the Myas' goals.

Webb also assisted on Karl Williamson's tally in the second while Craig Miller assisted on Brandon Ferguson's power-play goal in the period.
Ferguson also scored with three seconds remaining.

Bay Area got two goals in the first period from the same line. Dan Tinkle scored 21 seconds into the contest on assists from Jake Mills and Andrew Zelinski while Mills scored later in the period from Tinkle and Zelinski.

Andrew Mills made 10 saves in net for Bay Area, which hosts Mattawan for a 4 p.m. game at The Kaliseum on Saturday.

The Reps also allowed 10 shots in its shutout against Manistee on Friday.

Prep Roundup: Reps' flurry dooms Mattawan

KALKASKA — The standoff ended with a flurry of late goals as the Grand Traverse Bay Reps outlasted Mattawan 4-1 at the Kaliseum on Saturday.

Almost 40 minutes into the game, it was knotted up at 1-1 before the Reps unleashed a barrage on the Wildcats over the final six and a half minutes.

Grayson Myas started off the spurt with a goal with 6:23 left, set up by Andrew Walukonis and Tom Pritz.

Ryan Farley followed that up 37 seconds later, assisted by Brandon Ferguson and Ben Videan, and Dan Tinkle finished things off with an empty-netter assisted by Andrew Zelinski with 44 ticks remaining.

Ferguson got things going at the 2:14 mark of the second off a Farley assist, and Mattawan drew even on a Josh Davidson score a minute into the third.

Cody Lindhorst made 16 saves in net for the Reps (3-2), who host Sault Ste. Marie next Friday at Centre ICE and then host Rockford on Saturday at the Kaliseum.


Reps edge out in season opener

Keegan Hartman's power play goal with a minute left in the second period proved to be the game-winner Saturday night as Cheboygan edged the Bay Area Reps 4-3 in a season-opening high school hockey game.

Cheboygan struck quickly, grabbing a 2-0 lead less than eight minutes into the first period on goals by Tyler Brown and Zak Giese. The Reps rallied to tie it by the end of the period on goals by Adam Rochford and Dan Tinkle. Grayson Myas assisted on Rochford's goal while Ben Videan had the assist on Tinkle's goal.

Cheboygan regained its two-goal lead in the second period on tallies by Giese and Hartman.

Videan closed the gap to 4-3 in the third period, but the Reps could not score the equalizer, despite outshooting the Chiefs 20-2 in the final period. Jake Mills and Tinkle assisted on Videan's goal.

"It's a little disappointing that the result was not better," Reps coach Rex Luxton said. "But overall for our first game it wasn't bad. We got down twice (by two goals), but the kids never gave up."

The Reps travel to Cadillac on Tuesday.


Cadillac powers past Bay Reps

CADILLAC -- A pair of power-play goals propelled Cadillac to a 2-1 season-opening win over the Bay Reps.

Sean Kennedy scored one goal and assisted on the other as the Vikings took advantage of a 5-on-3 advantage late in the third period to score twice to move into the lead.

Jiri Lindstrom scored the game-winner with 6:51 left off a Kennedy assist. Bill Badner and P.J. O'Hagan assisted on Kennedy's goal.

The game was scoreless through two periods before the Reps' Dan Tinkle scored a power-play goal on assists by Andrew Zelinski and Jacob Mills.

Micky Malmborg made 17 saves for Cadillac (1-0), while the Reps' Cody Lindhorst also stopped 17.

The Reps were playing without three players from Traverse City St. Francis, who are still practicing with the football team as the Gladiators prepare for the Division 7 state finals on Saturday in Detroit.


Bay Rep 4
Manistee 0

Bay Area scored three times in the final period and Cody Lindhorst made 13 saves as the Reps blanked Manistee 4-0 for their first win of the season.

The game was scoreless until 26 seconds left in the second period on an Andrew Zelinski goal. Dan Tinkle and Anthony Armour had the assists.

Bay Area, which plays Grand Rapids Christian tonight at The Kaliseum, opened the final period with a goal by Eric Videan.

Grayson Myas made it 3-0 while Brandon Ferguson closed out the scoring. Andrew Walukonis had the assist on Myas' goal while Michael Elliott had the helper on Ferguson's tally.

All four goals came at even strength. There were just four penalties in the contest.
